Our Approach
Purpose-built homes to suit all care levels
Your voice matters
Living in a well-designed home that makes life a little easier each day, rather than harder, is something everyone deserves. For too long many Australians living with a disability have struggled to find housing that adequately supports their needs. But it’s time for that to change.Â
At the heart of the UHA experience is a desire to shake up the way specialised disability accommodation is designed and built. To create properties that foster independence and community connections. That bring more joy into the lives of our participants. All UHA homes are purposefully designed and feature elements that promote functionality and positive living. Attention to detail is guaranteed because we believe it’s often the smallest things that make the biggest difference.
- Good storage space for accessories and assistive equipment
- Participant driven technology
- Solar and renewable energy to bring down power bills
- Outdoor area with gardens
- Height adjustable bench tops
- High ceilings for better light and airflow
- Plus more…

Every decision made at UHA is made with our participants in mind, never compromising on comfort, quality or function. We work with our participants, families, carers and decision-makers to ensure we meet your requirements.
Once you’ve completed the expression of interest form, we will then work with you throughout the entire process.
1. Chat to us about your housing needs
To give us the best understanding of what you’re looking for in a forever home, first we arrange a meeting with you to discuss whether you have SDA included in your NDIS plan, and if you do what sort of design and location you’re looking for.
If you don’t have SDA included in your plan, we can also help you throughout the application process. Get in touch, and let us help you along the way.
2. We’ll then work with you to build your forever home
Once you’ve been approved for an NDIS funded SDA home, we work together to bring your plan to life. Turning your dreams into reality.
We chat about all things locations, furnishings and features before putting it all onto paper. From there, your home blueprint is ready for SDA approval, before getting started on the build.
3. Move in with UHA
From our initial meeting up until this point, we’re with you every step of the way.
Now all that’s left to do is show you around your purpose-built forever home, explain all of the new features and ensure you’re living as comfortably as possible.
Our Homes
Our team develops purpose-built homes to suit all care levels Australia wide. We build four design category types in line with the SDA guidelines.
When designing our purpose-built homes, we also place a lot of importance on the needs of NDIS participant carers. This is why every home we build includes a room for carers to use as they please.
SDA Design Categories
High physical support
Each UHA home is designed to incorporate a high level of physical access and support provisions to help make life as as easy as possible for our participants.
Fully accessible
Accessibility takes centre stage. UHA homes are designed to incorporate easy and convenient access to support those with a significant physical impairment.
Robust
Our homes are well-built, robust and very resilient. This focus on quality reduces the likelihood of reactive maintenance, which in turn reduces the risk to our participants and the community.
Improved liveability
Design and functionality are considered throughout. We improve ‘liveability’ by incorporating a reasonable level of physical access and enhanced support for people with sensory, intellectual or cognitive impairment.
